Distance Courses

There are several courses providing by overseas institutions are officially recognised by the Ministry of Education. Distance Education is planned learning that normally occurs in a different place from teaching. It requires special techniques of courses design, special instructional techniques, and special methods of communication and administrative arrangements.
A distance course may either employ correspondence study using print materials or may be use electronic and other technology such of audio, video, or computer technologies or a combination of one or more methods
Distance courses offer flexible means of learning that is it can be accesses at any place, time and distance. 

What kind of distance courses are offered by ALDEC?
ALDEC offers:

  • Locally designed courses which are intended to suit the local needs. Local courses offered by ALDEC are either print based or/and electronic. (please give hyperlink)
  • Distance courses offered by overseas institution and students can access the courses through their website.

Who can apply for DE Courses?
Distance education course are open to all candidates who

  • Meet course entry requirement.
  • Is not studying full time with any other institution either locally or overseas.

What are the benefits of studying by distance?
The courses are cost effective
Learners are able to:

  • study at home and at odd hours
  • work and study at the same time
  • keep on with the family commitments
  • have a flexible timetable and very little contact time with institutions /lecturers

How to pay for course?
Local DE courses are payable in the local currency and payment per course are made upon official enrolment for the course. Where a course requires students to use textbooks, these will be loaned to students during the entire duration of the course. Students will be required to pay a small deposit fee.
Students enrolled with overseas institutions will have to pay in the currency of the offering institution.
Students wishing to finance their own studies to obtain loans from commercial banks or/and make request for foreign exchange through ALDEC.
The Seychelles government offers scholarship for students who wish to apply for a courses which meets national needs. For more information click here.
