GCE A Level
French

GCE O Level/IGCSE
IGCSE and GCEs are the main qualifications taken by 14 to 16 year olds, but are available to anyone who would like to study a subject that interests them. If you're thinking about higher education, you may need O Level/IGCSE in certain subjects. Most universities and colleges will ask for five O Level/IGCSE grades A*-C, including English and Mathematics (as well as A levels or equivalent qualifications).
Who can apply?
Applications are open to all candidates with the exception of students following their compulsory education programme in primary or secondary institutions.
Entry Requirement
Candidates must have completed S3 or the equivalent in the subject, or must have successfully completed Level 3 of the subject in the Adult Literacy programme.
Course Duration
Courses at ‘O’ Level and IGCSE are of one year duration. Candidates sit Cambridge International Examinations in October and November of the same year. more details here [www.cie.org.uk].

GCE A Level
If you want to study a particular subject in detail as Advanced level qualification may be for you. They are highly valued by schools, colleges and employers.
Who can apply?
Applications are open to all candidates with the exception of students following their compulsory education programme in primary or secondary institutions. 

Selection and enrolment on courses and training programmes are based on the prerequisites for that particular course or training programme.
Students enrolled at the school of A level studies (SALS) shall not for the period of full-time on campus studies, be eligible for enrolment in any Advance level course with ALDEC.

Entry Requirement
In most cases, you need a Minimum ‘C’ in the subject at ‘O’ Level or the equivalent. For some subject you need to have IGCSE grade C or above in English and Mathematics.

Duration
Courses at ‘A’ Level are for the duration of two years. Candidates sit Cambridge International Examinations in October/November of the second year of their studies. [www.cie.org.uk]

French Course
If you want to study french language, ALDEC offers french courses at different levels from secondary three and above.
Who can apply?
Applications are open to all candidates with the exception of students following their compulsory education programme in primary or below secondary 3 (S3) institutions.

Entry Requirement
Participants are free to select any one but it is advisable to have A1 or A2 before selecting any higher level course.
